TOP UK GRAPPLERS

The BJJ Scene is at it’s best.

The top UK grapplers are self-explanatory at the moment, nothing in my list that will
shock anyone, no surprises. These guys have been around the UK, European and world
scene for a while. The UK BJJ scene is at its best at the moment so the list below could have been very deep. I’ve chosen this group because everyone knows them and they
earn their way onto the list no matter which way you put them.

The Best of the Best

FFION DAVIS

JACK GRANT

ROSS NICHOLLS

TOM BREESE

EOGHAN O’FLANAGAN

DAN STRAUSS

ASHLEY WILLIAMS

BRADLEY HILL

The Best of the North West

Lets look at a different list, this list is a group of people who are always around on the UK, European and world scenes but don’t get as much credit as they deserve. {In normal times} you can go to any BJJ247, British Open, IBJJF, NAGA etc and these guys will be there competing in multiple weight classes, just to compete. It’s time they get recognised for what they do.

NEIL ATKINS

Neil won the European Championships, you might have heard.. : } A killer on the mats, multiple time medalist at IBJJF and local events and a true gent of the sport. He’s built a fantastic academy in Chorley that has some of the UK’s best grapplers visiting on a weekly basis {in normal times} and a mat full of killers 7 days per week.

EMIL FROM STEALTH

The Mr nice guy of grappling, always has a smile on his face when he’s competing, coaching or refereeing. His slick grappling is such a pleasure to watch. Multiple time domestic, European medalist and Grapplefest vet, Emil is just as fun to watch as he is to roll with.

JAMES NARDONE

James hasn’t been as active as most on this list recently but what an outstanding technical grappler he is. 3 years ago he went to war with Lee Simpson in a back and
forth match at Grapple Mania 1. James is always at local events refereeing and
coaching. A well-respected grappler from Factory BJJ.

LEE SIMPSON

A Sukata stand out who has been around for years competing and collecting medals at
all belts and divisons. Recently Lee has been helping build the next generation of
grapplers coaching his youth team in Warrington.

CHARLIE MCDONALD

Another Sukata stand out to make the list. Charlie has competed at local, European and
world competitions and a Grapplefest and Polaris vet collecting medals for fun at every
belt level. A very recocnisable face around the competion scene over the years.

KEV CORKHILL

Tough, technical grappler who struggles to get a match on any show.. Why? Because
he’s tough as heck and no one wants to grapple with him. He’s recently gone the
distance with Ashley Williams and Jack Grant. A very technical grappler with a dangerous game.

MATTY HOMES

Tanko tournament winner, coach, competitor and all-round good guy. Matty trains with
MMA world champions at NextGen to include Paddy, Chris Fishgold, Molly McCann,
the list goes on. We could have put a host of fighters from that gym on this list and
no one would bat an eyelid, I have put Matty on because he’s still very active around the
grappling scene and a recognisable face.
